ARVA MOORE PARKS
A friend of the ISSF, Arva Moore Parks, a towering Miami figure who gave shape to the city’s saga as a historian and who fought fiercely as a preservationist to save many of its most iconic landmarks, has died. Among the architectural and historic treasures that Parks helped save are the Biltmore Hotel and the Venetian Pool in Coral Gables, the Freedom Tower in downtown Miami and the Miami Marine Stadium. Parks died Sunday at home in Miami’s Shenandoah neighborhood. She was 81.
MAY SHE REST IN PEACE.

ISSF GENERAL MEETING

Our 2nd General ISSF Meeting, which was held at the Coral Gables Museum, was extremely educational.
The renowned historian, preservationist and author, Arva Moore Parks, gave members a wonderful presentation on the history of Coral Gables.  They also took a tour of the historically protected Coral Gables Museum and enjoyed spectacular Artwork by Artists Rafael Barrios and Maria Cristina Carbonell.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
ISSF offers numerous programs for professional development. These may include a Writing Institute and other programs of educational interest for Administration and Faculty Professional Development.

The two General Meetings each year are held at various locations throughout our community.  During these meetings, Speaker presentations are followed by private tours of the venue. These visits provide Administrators with knowledge of the venue for possible student field trips.
